Job Post: Philanthropy and Partnerships Officer

Employment: Full-time or Part-time contract

Reports to: President, PAN International Foundation

Candidate Location: Remote workplace, ideally based in the following PAN Countries: Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland or United States

About the Role

PAN International and the global PAN network are powered by our strong track record in securing support from major donors and foundations. While we plan to grow these areas further, we are also expanding into new fields of fundraising and development.

As the Philanthropy and Partnerships Officer, you will play a key role in shaping and growing PAN International’s fundraising strategy. Your work will directly support both our organisation and the wider global network.

In collaboration with the PAN International board and leadership team, you will oversee, strengthen and scale our current fundraising activities. This includes major donor engagement and institutional fundraising, which are essential to our long-term sustainability.

You will also explore and build new fundraising opportunities. These may include digital and corporate partnerships, planned giving, and targeted campaigns that align with our mission and values.

With active programmes in over 10 countries, a diverse range of projects, and strong links across health, nutrition and sustainability, we are well positioned to create compelling cases for support that attract a wide range of funders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively develop partnership efforts for PAN International’s headquarters in Switzerland.

  • Strengthen, expand and manage existing fundraising activities with donors, major donors and foundations.

  • Co-develop and implement new fundraising strategies with the PAN International Board and leadership team to meet annual targets.

  • Build and maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, including cultivation, proposal development and direct solicitation.

  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of donor interactions, and oversee timely gift processing and acknowledgments.

  • Collaborate with programme teams to create compelling cases for support and deliver high-quality proposals in Europe and beyond.

  • Manage donor stewardship and recognition programmes to ensure strong relationships and continued support.

  • Develop and support the execution of a digital fundraising strategy in coordination with the marketing and leadership teams.

  • Plan and execute fundraising events and donor engagement opportunities in collaboration with relevant staff.

  • Stay current with trends and best practices in philanthropy, and share insights with colleagues and volunteers.

Key Requirements

  • Experience & Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of NGO fundraising experience with a record of successful fund development and client relationship management.

    • Preference for previous foundation experience.

    • Experience with fundraising databases and software.

    • Fluent English; Swiss German or French preferred.

    • Residence in Switzerland, Europe or United States.

    • Regular travel in Europe.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling proposals and reports.

    • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers and donors.
