PAN Co-Launches the Healthcare Action Brief at the EAT Stockholm Food Forum

Today at the EAT Stockholm Food Forum, the 2025 EAT-Lancet Commission unveils a major scientific update to one of the most influential food systems reports of the past decade. Alongside the updated Planetary Health Diet, we are proud to co-launch the Action Brief for Healthcare Professionals.

As co-hosts of the Healthcare Professionals Community for Action with EAT, we convened dialogues with health professionals from over 70 organisations worldwide to develop this comprehensive resource. The Action Brief equips the health sector with practical guidance to integrate the Planetary Health Diet into clinical practice, education, and health systems, helping to prevent disease and improve patient outcomes.

Poor diets are a leading risk factor for premature death worldwide (Afshin et al., The Lancet 2019), driving noncommunicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers (WHO, 2023). Recent research shows that healthy, sustainable diets could prevent up to 15 million premature deaths each year (Gu et al., PNAS 2024). Healthcare professionals are central to promoting healthy diets and addressing the global burden of disease.

“Healthcare professionals are uniquely placed as trusted voices to accelerate the transition to healthy, sustainable, and just diets,” says Dr Nanine Wyma, Managing Director of PAN International. “The Action Brief provides concrete steps for clinicians and institutions, helping them integrate nutrition into care while also engaging with other sectors to transform food systems.”

Watch Live

The official launch will be live-streamed globally from 9:00–12:00 CEST and features presentations of the Commission’s key findings, perspectives from leading scientific and policy voices, and a global dialogue on how to translate science into action.
